Position Summary:
La Ville Hotel & Suites is seeking a dedicated Commis 1 to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food items, as well as washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Cook and prepare hot and cold dishes following the established recipes and food preparation checklist.
• Operate kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Test food to ensure it meets quality and safety standards; monitor food quality throughout the preparation process.
• Set up and break down the work station, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
• Serve food in proper portions with attention to presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene in the kitchen area, including washing and disinfecting tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Monitor and ensure the correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food items.
• Adhere to all safety and company policies; report maintenance needs, accidents, and unsafe conditions to the manager.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• Experience: At least 1 year of related experience in a culinary role.
• Skills: Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene standards; ability to work efficiently and follow recipes precisely.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the kitchen for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
