Assist staff with payment issues (e.g. credit card issues). Follow up on guest issues to ensure guest satisfaction. Process all guest input through reservation confirmation, room assignment, room key distribution and activation. Process all types of payments including room bills, cash, checks and credit cards. Set up accurate accounts upon guest arrival (e.g. shared room, incidentals/fees/separate room, gift). Anticipate when the hotel is full and find satisfactory alternative accommodations when the hotel cannot accommodate guests who have booked. Block rooms using IT tools and identify specific needs and requirements.
Contact the appropriate employee or department (e.g. bellhop, housekeeping) to respond to guest calls, requests or resolve issues. Work with housekeeping to monitor room preparation prior to guest arrival. Review shift logs/daily logs and enter all pertinent information into the department log. Ensure cash counts at the beginning and end of shifts. Balance and deposit receipts according to Accounting specifications. Assist management in training, motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model and reference for Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy procedures. Report accidents, injuries and any working conditions deemed unsafe to the manager; complete required safety training and certifications. Follow and enforce all chain policies and procedures; ensure a clean and complete work uniform is worn; maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times while in the workplace; maintain confidentiality of hotel information. Anticipate and respond to guest maintenance needs. Use clear and courteous language in all communications; prepare and edit written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones using appropriate language. Develop positive and constructive working relationships with your peers. Ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards. Be accustomed to working standing, sitting and being on the move for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, pull and place loads weighing up to 4.5 kilos independently. Perform all other tasks requested by managers and which correspond to the position.
