Key Accountabilities
Support in developing material and fabrication specifications, covering a range of components, including structural materials such as rolled plates, profiles, and forgings. Evaluate technical bid offers and provide support to the procurement department.
Support the engineering function by contributing to the selection of materials of constructions. assisting in the development of material procurement requirements, and participating in the evaluation of technical bids.
Assist with fabrication activities by addressing technical inquiries and reviewing documentation related to materials.
Assisting with compliance efforts, including adhering to regulatory requirements, industry standards, client specifications, and Company policies & procedures.
Interface with design engineers, production engineers, manufacturers, and the fabrication departments to ensure adherence to best practices and client specifications throughout projects.
Support the development of Drydocks World engineering work instructions and procedures.
Resolve technical queries related to material and welding issues.
Experience:
Required experience:
2.5 years’ experience/exposure in Marine, Oil & Gas, and offshore Energy sector.
Good understanding of metallurgical and mechanical properties of metallic materials.
Experience with material selection and evaluation.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards for specifying metallic materials.
Knowledge of destructive testing methods (tensile, impact, G48, SCC, bend test)
Basic understanding of welding, NDE and coating.
Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Capability to work independently in a team environment and manage multiple project responsibilities.
Proficiency in MS Office software.
Preferred experience:
Experience in FEED and EPC projects in the offshore marine and energy sector.
Familiarity with recognized industry codes and standards relevant to materials and welding discipline. (API 5L, DNV,NORSOK, ASTM, NACE).
Experience in major yards in construction of offshore projects.
Exposure to IACS unified requirements and classification society standards.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Metallurgy or Materials Science.
Preferred evidence of working towards chartership (CEng), with an Engineering Council recognised.
