Job description
The Freight Forwarding Pricing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing pricing strategies for freight forwarding services. This role involves analyzing market trends, negotiating rates with carriers, and ensuring competitive and profitable pricing structures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
This role focuses on break bulk, roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro), sea freight, air freight shipping, road transportation and all other vendors related to freight forwarding ensuring cost-effective and timely transportation of goods. The Procurement Manager will collaborate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships to optimize the logistics and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive pricing strategies for freight forwarding services.
Monitor and adjust pricing based on market conditions, cost fluctuations, and competitor activities.
Rate Negotiation:
Negotiate rates with carriers, suppliers, and partners to secure the best possible terms.
Maintain strong relationships with carriers and service providers to ensure favorable pricing.
Market Analysis:
Conduct market research to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive pricing.
Analyze market data to identify opportunities for pricing adjustments and improvements.
Cost Management:
Monitor and analyze costs associated with freight forwarding services.
Develop cost models to support pricing decisions and ensure profitability.
Sales Support:
Collaborate with the sales team to provide pricing support and guidance.
Prepare pricing proposals and quotations for customers.
Performance Monitoring:
Track and analyze the performance of pricing strategies and adjust as necessary.
Prepare reports on pricing activities, trends, and performance metrics.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure all pricing activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of pricing agreements, contracts, and related documentation.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor a team of pricing analysts or specialists.
Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications & Experince:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field with a focus on pricing.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding operations and market dynamics.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with pricing software is a plus.
